Weekly Updates #7 // Cover Reveals, Anniversary Editions + Movie Rights!

Weekly Updates is a post I (try to) do weekly which just recaps all the bookish news that has happened in the community

If that doesn’t make sense you can view all my other posts here!

O N E

The Harry Potter books are getting new covers for the 20th US anniversary. These are drawn by Hugo Cabret who wrote and illustrated The Invention of Hugo Cabret (which I loved growing up! Movie as well!) So these are redesigns of the old US covers (which I’m not the hugest fan of) but its so amazing and it captures the same essence really well!

So that’s the new vs old!

You can view them all in the link here!

Paramount Pictures has won the rights for a movie to Aru Shah and the End of Time! I haven’t read this book or any of Roshani Chokshi’s books but it’s on my TBR!

(plus this book was published under Rick Riordan’s imprint and mythology hello?)

Dear Martin author Nic Stone is coming out with a new book called Odd One Out and here’s the cover!

I really want to read both books!

‘Her new book explores friendship, love, and the path to self-discovery as two best friends — one a boy, one a girl — fall for the same girl who’s new to the neighborhood.’

You can read an excerpt here!

The author of Graceling (Kristin Cashore) wrote a book called Jane Unlimited and it’s getting a new paperback cover!

‘One choice leads Jane into a heist mystery. Another takes her into a spy thriller. She finds herself in a gothic horror story, a space opera, and an extraordinary fantasy realm. She might fall in love, she might lose her life, she might come face-to-face with herself. Every choice comes with a price. But together, all the choices will lead her to the truth.’

I haven’t read the book, but it sounds cool!

The Wayward Children series is getting a 4th and 5th book and I’m so excited!!

Book 4 is called In an Absent Dream (how awesome does that sound?) and here’s the cover!

Book 5 is called Come Tumbling Down and that has no cover yet.

If you haven’t read the series you should. The books are actually all novellas, and while they’re short they’re also so amazing too!

Roshani Chokshi is releasing a book called The Gilded Wolves and here’s the cover!

The Gilded Wolves kicks off an alternately glamorous and dangerous adventure, set in Paris near the end of the 19th century, with the world on the cusp of industry and power, and ancient secrets starting to get dredged up.

Here’s a link if you want to read a preview!

The UK cover for Jay Kristoff’s LifeL1k3 was revealed and it looks so awesome!

Here’s the US vs UK cover!

Jennifer L. Armentrout is writing a book called The Darkest Star and here’s the cover!

(I’ve never actualy read one of her books but maybe someday!)

Link is here if you want to read an excerpt!

John Green’s Looking for Alaska is being turned into a TV show! It’ll be streamed on Hulu. Here’s the link!

Marie Lu’s Wildcard now has a cover! I think it looks awesome!

To read an excerpt link is here!

Tomi Adeyemi’s Children of Blood and Bone sequel is called Children of Virtue and Vengeance! That sounds so awesome and I can’t wait for it.

There’s a really cool short video reveal which you can find on her twitter here!

Hope you guys found something interesting!

  3. Ooh, very nice update! I wish I saw more posts like this because I rarely keep up with book news (or at least, I’m not very good at doing so haha). And hmm, I’m not a fan of these anniversary editions for HP, but DAAANG I love Hugo Cabret’s illustrations, and those new US covers look so cool!

  4. Oh, I didn’t know Jennifer Armentrout is working on a new project (let alone an already released excerpt!). Her books are kind of really addictive and easy to read novels so you should definitely try one of her series (Lux, The Dark Elements or The Covenant series recommended) if you’re feeling sort of book slumpy.
